Payton Passes Playcalling; Tua's Future Uncertain

The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine is underway, serving as a hub for offseason team developments beyond prospect evaluations. Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton has relinquished playcalling responsibilities to assistant Davis Webb, a move aimed at improving the team's performance. Webb's promotion to offensive coordinator follows his previous interviews for other coaching positions.

Payton stated that giving up playcalling is intended to help the team win more games and that he will remain involved in offensive strategy. He expressed confidence in Webb's abilities, highlighting his sharpness and talent as reasons for his promotion.

Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins are keeping all options open regarding quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's future, including a potential trade. General Manager Jon-Eric Sullivan indicated that conversations with Tagovailoa's representatives have been productive, though they haven't explicitly requested a trade. Tagovailoa was benched late in the 2025 season, and his contract carries a substantial guaranteed amount for 2026.

Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby is frequently mentioned in trade speculation, fueled by his frustration late in the 2025 season. However, General Manager John Spytek stated that the team expects Crosby to remain with the Raiders for the 2026 season, emphasizing his elite status.

Additionally, the Baltimore Ravens are working towards an extension for quarterback Lamar Jackson, despite earlier rumors of his potential desire to leave. General Manager Eric DeCosta also confirmed the team has made a significant offer to retain center Tyler Linderbaum, a Pro Bowler for the past three seasons.
