4 Jan
Summary
- Both Newcastle and Crystal Palace aim to close the gap on the top six teams.
- Newcastle faces significant injury concerns with multiple players sidelined.
- Crystal Palace seeks to break a six-game winless run in all competitions.
Newcastle United squares off against Crystal Palace this Sunday, with both teams eager to climb the league standings and vie for a spot in the top six. Newcastle achieved a recent 3-1 victory, but their overall performance has been inconsistent.
Eddie Howe's squad is currently contending with a substantial number of injured players, including key names like Dan Burn and Kieran Trippier, with several others listed as doubts. This puts significant pressure on the remaining available players to secure a crucial home win.
Conversely, Crystal Palace arrives at St. James' Park aiming to halt a concerning six-match winless streak across all competitions. Oliver Glasner's team was particularly disappointed with a late equalizer conceded in their recent draw. The Eagles will be looking to new signing Brennan Johnson to make an immediate impact and spark an upturn in their fortunes.
