Record Transfer: French Goalie Ewen Jaouen Lands at Newcastle

Premier League club Newcastle United announced the acquisition of goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from French second-division team Reims on Wednesday. The long-term contract details were not disclosed by the club. However, French sports daily L'Equipe reported a four-year deal valued at approximately 28.5 million euros, potentially making Jaouen the most expensive player transferred from the French second tier.

Jaouen, a 20-year-old talent, recorded 15 clean sheets for Reims during the previous season and has experience playing for France's Under-21 team. He cited the renowned atmosphere at St James' Park and the city's passion as factors influencing his decision. Newcastle coach Eddie Howe praised Jaouen's promise, calmness, and presence.
