In a significant move for international sports broadcasting, Netflix will stream the NFL's inaugural game in Australia this September. The Los Angeles Rams are slated to host the San Francisco 49ers at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. This historic matchup is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, with kickoff at 8:35 p.m. ET, which will be Friday morning local time in Melbourne.
This Australian game is part of Netflix's expanding partnership with the NFL. The streaming giant is also set to broadcast another NFL game during the week of Thanksgiving. These events follow previous announcements of Netflix carrying two Christmas Day NFL games, underscoring a major commitment to American football content. Viewing the Australia game will require a Netflix subscription for fans outside of the Los Angeles and San Francisco markets, where an over-the-air television option will be available.
