NBA Expansion: Seattle & Vegas Set for New Teams?
8 Mar
Summary
- NBA board to discuss expansion in March meeting.
- Seattle and Las Vegas are projected expansion cities.
- New teams face reduced salary caps for two years.

The NBA is moving closer to expansion, with potential new teams in Las Vegas and Seattle. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver indicated that expansion would be a topic at the March Board of Governors meeting. While no vote is scheduled, the league is preparing to engage with interested parties.
A mock expansion draft scenario has been created to visualize player selections. Under current rules, existing teams can protect up to eight players. Pending unrestricted free agents are ineligible for protection. Expansion teams will also face limitations on their salary caps for their first two years.
Seattle has been granted the first pick in this hypothetical expansion draft. The projected player pool includes a mix of guards, forwards, and centers from current NBA rosters. Both Seattle and Las Vegas will have specific salary cap considerations in their inaugural seasons.
