Naman Dhir's fielding struggles were evident once again during an IPL 2026 match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in Dharamshala on Thursday. Dhir dropped opener Prabhsimran Singh in the second over, marking his seventh missed opportunity of the season, the highest tally for any fielder.
This crucial drop allowed Singh to continue batting and build a substantial opening partnership with Priyansh Arya. The pair had already amassed fifty runs within just over four overs before Arya was dismissed by Deepak Chahar for 22 runs off 17 deliveries.
Mumbai Indians, led by stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah, had won the toss and elected to field first against Punjab Kings. The match took place at the HPCA Stadium.
