MTSU Football Axes Offensive Coordinator Reeder

Middle Tennessee State University's football program is making a significant change at the offensive coordinator position, reportedly parting ways with Bodie Reeder. This decision follows the recent retention of head coach Derek Mason for the 2026 season. The Blue Raiders have experienced a notable turnover among their coaching staff, with three assistants leaving since early November, signaling a period of transition.

Reeder was appointed offensive coordinator when Mason took the helm in December 2023. During the 2025 season, the MTSU offense experienced inconsistency, particularly in the first half of the season. However, a shift occurred with the emergence of redshirt freshman quarterback Roman Gagliano, who started the final three games. Under his leadership, the team's scoring average increased, and they secured victories in their last two contests, ending the season on a positive note.

While MTSU seeks a new offensive coordinator, the team anticipates entering the 2026 season with Gagliano likely under center. However, they will face the challenge of replacing leading rusher Jekail Middlebrook, who is expected to enter the transfer portal after accumulating significant yardage. The program is looking to build momentum following a 3-9 finish for the second consecutive year.
