Carlson, a 6-foot-7, 250-pound recruit from Brighton, committed to the Spartans over offers from Northwestern and other programs. He is recognized as one of the top offensive tackles in the nation for his class.
Stumpf, a 6-foot-4 quarterback from Sunbury, Ohio, also committed to Michigan State. He recently led his high school team to the Ohio Division II semifinals, finishing the season with a 12-2 record and throwing for 2,436 yards and 31 touchdowns.
With these two additions, Michigan State now has four players committed to its 2027 recruiting class, all of whom are rated as three-star recruits.
