Motherwell Football Club has secured the loan signing of midfielder Sophie Rutherford from SWPL rivals Rangers. Rutherford becomes the third player to make the move from Rangers to Motherwell this summer, joining Mia McArthur and Saoirse Coyle-Morrow.
Prior to joining Motherwell, Rutherford and new signing Ellie MacDonald were teammates at Queen's Park in SWPL2 last season. MacDonald's arrival is expected to add significant midfield dynamism and competition for places, having been a standout player for Queen's Park.
Further strengthening the squad, Lucy Sinclair has returned to the club after a period at Partick Thistle, expressing excitement about her development. Teenage defender Olivia McStay has also been recruited from Hamilton Academical, bringing valuable experience despite her youth.
