Morocco vs Burundi: Lions Roar in Friendly Clash

Morocco is set to host Burundi in a friendly match on Tuesday at the Mohammed VI Football Complexe. This encounter is part of the Atlas Lions' preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with further friendlies scheduled before their trip to the USA.

The Moroccan team has demonstrated strong recent performance, remaining undefeated in six matches this year. Their last friendly outing in March resulted in a 2-1 victory over Venezuela, with goals from Neil El Aynaoui and Bilal El Khannouss.

Burundi, conversely, recently secured dominant 4-0 wins against Chad in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers. However, historical head-to-head statistics show Morocco with a perfect record against Burundi, keeping clean sheets in their previous two meetings, including a 1-0 win in 2021.

Considering Morocco's home advantage and superior squad depth, they are considered strong favorites for this friendly. The team has a notable recent record in friendly games, being unbeaten since 2022.
