Police to Patrol Moncton High Football Games After Incident
2 Oct
Summary
- Police presence planned for two Moncton high school football games.
- Two youths arrested following an altercation at a previous game.
- School officials implemented security measures for upcoming events.

Police presence will be heightened at two Moncton high school football games on Thursday evening. This follows an incident less than a week prior at an École L'Odyssée football game, which led to a significant RCMP response and the arrest of two youths. The prior altercation, which occurred on September 25th, involved several youths, with one reportedly displaying what appeared to be a weapon.
As a precaution, the school grounds were evacuated and the game was postponed. The RCMP announced that one 17-year-old male has been released and will appear in court later. The other youth, initially arrested due to matching a suspect description, was released without charges. No injuries were reported during this incident.
To ensure safety at Thursday's games, Codiac Regional RCMP members will be present at both the Acadie Bowl between École L'Odyssée and École Mathieu-Martin at Rocky Stone Field, and the game between Harrison Trimble High School and Riverview High School at Woody Hayes Field. School districts have also implemented additional security measures, such as extra bleachers at Rocky Stone Field to better delineate spectator areas, aiming to create a safe and welcoming environment for all attendees.
