Misiorowski's Championship Moment: Can he deliver?
29 Oct
Summary
- Jacob Misiorowski will pitch Game 5 to clinch the World Series.
- The Brewers lost Game 4 in a walk-off, forcing a decisive Game 5.
- Misiorowski's playoff performance has been good, but not elite.
Jacob Misiorowski is scheduled to take the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers in World Series Game 5 on Wednesday night, with the opportunity to secure the franchise's first championship. The Brewers' previous attempt to clinch the title in Game 4 ended in disappointment, as the Tampa Bay Rays rallied for a walk-off victory in the 12th inning, extending the series.
While Misiorowski, a strong Cy Young candidate, has been effective during the postseason, his dominance has not yet reached its peak in these playoffs. His previous starts were relatively short, and the team is now relying on him for a championship-caliber performance. Manager Pat Murphy acknowledged the team's resilience after the Game 4 loss, emphasizing the competitive nature of the Fall Classic.
Despite the pressure, Misiorowski appeared focused and ready for his pivotal role. The Rays, facing elimination, also heavily utilized their pitching staff in Game 4. Manager Kevin Cash employed multiple relievers, including closer Bryan Baker and Ian Seymour, to keep their team in the game, demonstrating the desperation of a team down 3-0 in the series.
