- Louisville aims for Brown's full strength for the NCAA Tournament.

Louisville will be without freshman guard Mikel Brown for the duration of the ACC Tournament as he continues to manage a back issue. The program announced Tuesday that the decision was made to prioritize his long-term health, with the goal of having him fully ready for the NCAA Tournament next week. Brown, a projected 2026 NBA Draft prospect, has been a significant offensive force for the Cardinals. He has averaged 18.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists across 21 games this season. Brown previously missed eight games in December and re-aggravated his injury in late February, causing him to sit out the final two regular-season contests. Head coach Pat Kelsey expressed confidence that the additional rest will allow Brown to return at his best for March Madness.
The Cardinals are set to begin their ACC Tournament play on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. ET against SMU. A victory would advance them to a second-round matchup against Miami. Louisville concluded their regular season with a 22-9 overall record, including an 11-7 standing in ACC play. They are currently projected as a No. 6 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi.
