Middle Tennessee secured a dramatic 31-24 overtime victory against New Mexico State in their final game of the season. AJ Jones was the hero, catching an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Roman Gagliano in the first overtime period to seal the win for the Blue Raiders.
Earlier in the game, Jones also made a crucial 24-yard touchdown reception before halftime. Gagliano finished the contest with 260 passing yards, including another touchdown to Landon Collins. DJ Taylor contributed significantly with 77 rushing yards and a 64-yard touchdown.
The New Mexico State Aggies, despite a strong effort from Adam Damante's 311 passing yards and TK King's 178 receiving yards, ultimately succumbed to penalty troubles during their overtime possession. Two false starts pushed them back, and a late field goal by Ryan Hawk had forced the overtime in the first place.
