Michigan football coach Kyle Whittingham has appointed Brian Knorr to his coaching staff. Knorr will take on the role of assistant special teams coach, working under coordinator Kerry Coombs. This addition comes as Whittingham continues to finalize his team of coaches.
Knorr, 62, brings a wealth of experience to Ann Arbor. He spent the last four seasons as the defensive coordinator at Air Force, his alma mater where he also played quarterback. His coaching career, spanning over thirty years, includes a previous stint as an assistant offensive line coach at Air Force.
His career has seen him serve at various institutions, including a four-year tenure as head coach at Ohio from 2001-2004. Knorr also had coaching positions at Wake Forest, Indiana, Ohio State, and Arizona before returning to Air Force in 2018. Notably, he was on the Buckeyes' staff in 2016, overlapping with current Wolverines assistant Kerry Coombs.
