Teaching Pro Michael Block Stuns PGA Tour Champions Field

Teaching professional Michael Block made a strong impression in his PGA Tour Champions debut on Friday, scoring a six-under-par 66. This performance placed him in a tie for fifth, just three shots behind the solo leader, Dicky Pride. Block, who turned 50 on June 16, secured a spot in the tournament through a sponsor's exemption.

Block admitted to feeling more nervous competing against players he idolized than in major championships. Despite this, he delivered an impressive round with seven birdies and only one bogey. He expressed his satisfaction with his debut performance, aiming to silence any doubters.

Looking ahead, Block revealed a personal ambition: to win the U.S. Senior Open in his first year of eligibility. He recently qualified for the championship, which will be held next week in Columbus, Ohio. Block feels confident about his game and his prospects for the current tournament at En-Joie Golf Course.
