Miami LB Defies Time for Eighth College Year

Miami Hurricanes linebacker Mohamed Toure will defy conventional timelines by playing his eighth college football season in 2026. This extended career is a result of significant setbacks, including ACL injuries that caused him to miss the entirety of the 2022 and 2024 seasons. Toure initially began his college journey in 2019 with Rutgers, benefiting from the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on eligibility. His tenure at Rutgers saw him record 167 tackles and 13.5 sacks over 37 games.

Following his time at Rutgers, Toure transferred to Miami for the 2025 season. He quickly became a full-time starter, contributing 84 tackles and playing a vital role on one of the nation's top defenses. His performance culminated in 11 tackles during the national championship game loss to Indiana.
