Miami Football Lands Five-Star Transfer Damon Wilson

The Miami Hurricanes football program has landed a significant transfer in former five-star edge rusher Damon Wilson. Wilson, a Florida native, spent his previous college seasons at Georgia and Missouri before committing to Miami. His 2025 season at Missouri was a breakout performance, where he recorded 9.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks in 13 games, establishing himself as one of the nation's top pass rushers.

Wilson is expected to help fill the void left by departed defensive stars Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain. He joins a defensive line that also features top recruits Justin Scott and Armondo Blount. The Hurricanes' defense is in a rebuilding phase, with eight starters from the previous season moving on due to eligibility or early NFL departures.

Miami also expects a strong contribution from returning five-star edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot, who had a breakout 2025 season with 23 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, and 2.5 sacks. The combination of Lightfoot and Wilson could form a dominant duo for the Hurricanes. Defensive line coach Jason Taylor will aim to mold these talents into a fearsome unit for the upcoming season.
