Mexico City F1 Race Celebrates 10 Years with Packed Stands

As the 2025 Formula 1 season reaches its climax, the Mexican Grand Prix is set to celebrate a significant milestone. This weekend, the race will mark its 10th anniversary at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, and it is expected to once again draw a capacity crowd of around 150,000 spectators.
The absence of local driver Sergio Perez, who was let go by his team at the end of the previous season, initially caused some concern for the race's promoters. However, their fears have proven unfounded, as the event has managed to maintain its popularity among the passionate Mexican fans. Alejandro Soberon Kuri, the founder and CEO of the promoters Grupo CIE and OCESA, noted that while Perez's departure slowed ticket sales initially, the community's love for Formula 1 has ensured another sellout.
The championship battle is also heating up, with McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris leading the way. Piastri currently holds a 14-point advantage over Norris, with four-time defending champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull a further 40 points behind. Verstappen, however, has been chipping away at the deficit, winning three of the past four races and the sprint event at the Circuit of the Americas last weekend.
