Further distinguishing the two, Twellman noted that Cristiano Ronaldo often refers to himself as the GOAT, while Lionel Messi has never made such a claim. He suggested this self-awareness or lack thereof plays a role in how they are perceived. Twellman concluded by advocating for a broader appreciation of Messi, calling him "soccer" and "the alien," while still acknowledging Ronaldo as one of the top four players ever.
