Mercedes' decision to withdraw its appeal regarding George Russell's penalty from the Monaco Grand Prix has ignited strong criticism from the driver's fanbase. The team stated that discussions with the FIA indicated a clear determination to review and address the Monaco race's unique circumstances. Consequently, Mercedes concluded that pursuing the appeal further would not benefit the team or the sport, leading to its withdrawal.
