29 Sep
Summary
- Medvedev frustrated with tennis' line-calling technology
- Demanded Hawk-Eye replay during match, request denied
- Defeated Davidovich Fokina to reach China Open quarterfinals

As of September 29, 2025, Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev has once again made his frustrations with the Hawk-Eye line-calling system known at the China Open. Medvedev, currently ranked world No. 18, eased past Britain's Cameron Norrie in the opening round to set up a second-round clash with Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Though Medvedev went on to secure a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 victory over Davidovich Fokina on Lotus Court, the 26-year-old was still visibly frustrated during the contest. Following a close call, Medvedev demanded to see a Hawk-Eye replay on the big screen, but his request was denied by the umpire.
Medvedev has been vocal about his issues with tennis' electronic line-calling technology on numerous occasions in the past. The Russian's ongoing battle with the Hawk-Eye system has now spilled over into the China Open, where he will face a quarterfinal showdown against Germany's Alexander Zverev.
