The McAlester girls soccer team is having a remarkable season, already exceeding their performance from the previous year. By April 2, just eight games into their current season, they had surpassed the total number of wins from last year. Coach Ashley Todd highlighted the team's proactive goal-setting, constantly identifying new objectives to strive for.
This season, success is defined by more than just wins for the Lady Buffaloes. Even a recent 3-0 loss to Bishop Kelley was considered a positive outcome, as it represented the fewest points scored against them by that opponent in years. This defensive improvement was a significant morale boost for the team.
Freshman Parker Cochran has emerged as a key player in the midfield, consistently demonstrating unwavering effort and determination. Coach Todd noted her relentless presence on the field, rarely requiring a substitution due to her essential role and commitment.
Meanwhile, the McAlester boys' soccer team is currently on a three-game losing streak, with their recent games including an overtime loss to Nathan Hale and decisive losses to Bishop Kelley and Edison Prep.
