Winter Games Star Matt Weston Gets Freedom of Town

Matt Weston, a celebrated double gold medalist from the 2026 Winter Olympics, will be awarded the prestigious freedom of Crowborough. The town council will bestow this honor upon Weston, who grew up in the East Sussex town, during a special civic ceremony scheduled for Friday. This event will take place at the Goldsmiths Recreation Ground and is open for public attendance.

Weston made history by becoming the first British athlete to win two gold medals at the same Winter Olympic Games. He secured his victories in the solo event and as part of the team gold medal alongside his skeleton partner, Tabitha Stoecker. A spokesperson for the town council expressed pride in the upcoming "proud and memorable" occasion for Crowborough.
