Terps Land Do-It-All Recruit for 2026

The Maryland Terrapins football team has bolstered its 2026 roster with the commitment of three-star safety Ontario Washington Jr. Washington Jr., who will enroll next week, comes from Stafford, Virginia, and attended North Stafford High School. He displayed a remarkable do-it-all capability in his senior year, contributing significantly on offense, defense, and special teams.

Washington Jr.'s versatile skillset includes impressive speed and explosiveness, noted for his ability to create separation as a runner and stay with receivers in coverage. Offensively, his speed could be utilized in various ways, such as screens and end-arounds. Defensively, he excels in coverage, demonstrating strong instincts and physical play despite his frame.

This commitment adds significant depth to the Terrapins' defensive backfield, which was already a strong unit last season, ranking among the nation's best in forced turnovers and interceptions. The addition of Washington Jr. is anticipated to further elevate the defense's capabilities under defensive coordinator Ted Monachino.
