Maryland football has been honored with the prestigious 2025 American Football Coaches Association's Academic Achievement Award. This marks a significant first for the program, recognizing its outstanding commitment to student-athlete success. The award specifically celebrates the highest graduation rates among the 2018 freshman football student-athlete cohort.
Alongside Maryland, six other distinguished programs received this notable recognition. These include Cincinnati, Middle Tennessee State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, and Temple. The selection is based on the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) formula, which accounts for transfer students, midyear enrollees, and non-scholarship athletes.
The head coaches of these seven winning institutions will be formally celebrated at the upcoming AFCA Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, scheduled for January 11. This award underscores the university's dedication to fostering academic excellence within its athletic programs.
