Mariners Exercise Munoz Option Despite Tough Season
30 Oct
Summary
- Mariners picked up closer Andres Munoz's 2027 club option.
- Munoz recorded 28 saves but had a career-worst 4.24 ERA.
- Seattle declined options for Bryce Miller and Victor Robles.

The Seattle Mariners exercised their $9 million club option for 2027 on closer Andres Munoz on Thursday. This move follows Munoz's most challenging season with the team, where he achieved 28 saves but led the majors with 10 blown saves and posted a career-worst 4.24 ERA in 61 relief appearances.
Despite the recent performance, Munoz remains a key asset, boasting 105 career saves and a 2.67 ERA over 302 appearances. The Mariners also declined options for right-hander Bryce Miller and outfielder Victor Robles. Miller's $6.075 million option was turned down, though he remains under club control through 2029 and is eligible for salary arbitration.
Victor Robles will receive a $500,000 buyout after his $9 million option was declined. He played 65 games for Seattle, batting .256 with no home runs. Robles is now among several Mariners free agents, including Randy Arozarena and J.P. Crawford. Additionally, the Mariners claimed outfielder Grant McCray off waivers from the San Francisco Giants.
