Ex-ISU DB Leads Fishers Freight to Big Win

Marcus Gray, a former defensive back for Indiana State, is currently excelling in the Indoor Football League (IFL) with the Fishers Freight. Gray, who played for the Sycamores from 2014 to 2016, has returned to his home state and is making a notable impact. He is currently leading the IFL in assisted tackles with 15 and overall tackles with 24, averaging eight per game.

The Fishers Freight recently secured a substantial 63-42 victory against the Arizona Rattlers, a team with a storied history in the sport. Gray highlighted the importance of this win as a statement for his team, emphasizing focus and execution. He recalled his time at Indiana State, noting the hard work and camaraderie that defined those teams, particularly the 2014 squad that reached the NCAA playoffs.

Gray's professional journey has included a stint in the National Arena League, where he also led the league in tackles before joining the Freight. He earned a starting spot with the team and returned an interception for a touchdown in the previous season's final game. Beyond football, Gray also works for the NBA's Indiana Pacers as part of their dunk team, balancing multiple athletic pursuits while playing for his hometown team.
