Manchester City's women's team is preparing to face Real Madrid in the Women's Champions League this Thursday. The Women's Super League champions have started their season strong, remaining undefeated. Their previous European encounter resulted in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich, where they came back from a two-goal deficit.
Despite ongoing scrutiny of the men's club over financial breaches, the women's team has reportedly maintained its focus. Manager Andreé Jeglertz has stated it's been "business as usual" for the WSL side. This European appearance marks a return to the Champions League after missing out last season.
Real Madrid also began their European campaign with a draw, tying 1-1 against Paris Saint-Germain. The Spanish side is currently performing well in their domestic league, Liga F, sitting in second place after securing 13 points from their initial five matches. City, meanwhile, have won all four of their matches this season.
