4 Jan
Summary
- Jack Della Maddalena believes Islam Makhachev would defeat Ilia Topuria.
- Topuria has proposed fighting Makhachev at a catchweight for a pound-for-pound title.
- Topuria's legal issues will sideline him, potentially leading to a fight with Gaethje or Pimblett.

Jack Della Maddalena has shared his prediction for a potential super-fight between Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria. Maddalena, who recently faced Makhachev, believes the size difference would favor Makhachev in a bout against Topuria. He noted that both fighters have utilized creatine to bulk up.
Despite currently holding the lightweight title, Ilia Topuria has ambitions of competing in higher weight classes. He has openly discussed the possibility of moving up to welterweight to challenge Makhachev, or even fighting for a newly created pound-for-pound catchweight title if a welterweight bout isn't sanctioned by the UFC.
Any immediate plans for a Makhachev versus Topuria showdown appear to be on hold. Topuria is currently dealing with legal entanglements that will keep him out of action for an undisclosed period. Upon his return, he may be required to face the winner of an interim lightweight title fight between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett.
