Staunton Named Gatorade Soccer Player of Year

Maeve Staunton, a star athlete at Northwest Catholic, has been recognized with the Gatorade girls soccer player of the year award. This recent graduate was a key player in her school's athletic achievements. She contributed significantly to the team's success, reaching the soccer state finals multiple times. Her individual performance included 21 goals and 17 assists in her final season. Staunton's impressive career total stands at 62 goals and 52 assists. She was also a multiple-time All-New England and All-State honoree, and a 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-American. Beyond soccer, Staunton was a vital part of the basketball team, helping them secure three consecutive state championships from her freshman to junior years. Although the team reached the Division I state championship game in March, they were ultimately defeated. Staunton is set to continue her soccer career at UConn in the fall.
