14 Apr
Summary
- A temporary trackside hotel offers luxury with a new swimming pool.
- The hotel caters to celebrities and new audiences drawn to F1.
- The concept, successful at Glastonbury, may expand to other races.

The Pop-Up Hotel, renowned for its celebrity and rock star service at the Glastonbury Festival, is now bringing an 'fully immersive' luxury experience to the British Grand Prix. This temporary hotel, situated close to the paddock, aims to provide a pampered alternative to traditional festival camping.
The hotel's new amenities include a trackside swimming pool with a swim-up bar, fine dining, and a secluded area designed to offer an escape from the crowds. This concept, which has featured pools at Glastonbury in the past and hosted guests like Margot Robbie, is designed to appeal to a broader audience, including female fans attracted by the sport's personality-driven appeal, boosted by series like 'Drive to Survive' and the 'F1 Movie'.
Founder Mark Sorrill noted that the pool, while perhaps not always heavily used, serves as a symbol of glamour and a unique selling point for the hotel. He highlighted how the experience caters to diverse interests within a single group, allowing some to enjoy the racing while others relax in luxury. The hotel concept is set to debut at the Monaco Grand Prix this year, with potential future expansion to other F1 races.
Silverstone, which hosted the first championship Grand Prix in 1950, accommodates a wide range of attendees, from traditional fans with tents and beers to influencers seeking visibility. Sorrill emphasized that the coexistence of these different types of attendees enriches the event's atmosphere, accommodating both core racing enthusiasts and those drawn to the sport's cultural and social aspects.
