The Los Angeles Lakers are now officially Luka Doncic's team following LeBron James's decision not to re-sign as a free agent this summer, occurring in 2026. While the team had been shifting focus since acquiring Doncic in February 2025, this offseason marks the full transition.

Despite the current roster not appearing championship-caliber on paper for the 2026-2027 season, coach JJ Redick expressed confidence in its development. Doncic is poised for another sensational campaign, having averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.6 steals last season, earning his second scoring title.
