19 Apr
Summary
- Lucknow Super Giants face fourth loss, dropping to eighth place.
- Multiple batting order experiments yielded inconsistent results.
- Captain Pant stated batting changes were pre-planned strategy.

As the IPL 2026 season progresses towards its halfway point, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are still experimenting with their batting order, a strategy that led to a significant setback. On Sunday, LSG experienced their fourth loss of the season, falling by 54 runs to the Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh. This defeat leaves them in a precarious eighth position on the points table, highlighting their ongoing struggles.
LSG has already utilized three different opening combinations in their six matches so far. While a partnership of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh had been a previous success, the team management has introduced new pairings. Against Punjab, Ayush Badoni was promoted to open alongside Mitchell Marsh. Although Badoni had previous experience opening in domestic T20s, this was only his second IPL start in that role.
