This weekend, London braces for the 26.2-mile TCS London Marathon, expecting 59,000 participants and thousands of spectators. The event necessitates widespread road closures across central London, impacting drivers significantly. Specific Vehicle Crossing Points, such as on Creek Road and The Highway, will have strict opening and closing times, generally reopening in the afternoon.
The Greenwich Foot Tunnel will be accessible but will operate a one-way system from 10 am to 12:30 pm. Drivers needing to travel southbound during this period are advised to use Docklands Light Railway services. Queen Anne's Gate will close periodically to manage spectator numbers.
Trafalgar Square and its surrounding roads will be closed from Sunday, April 26, from 7:30 am until 10 pm. The Mall and Marlborough Road will see closures from Thursday, April 23, until Monday, April 27. Birdcage Walk (Westbound) will close on Saturday, April 25, after an initial period of being open.
In Westcombe Park, sections of Shooters Hill Road and Charlton Way will close early Sunday morning for gantry installation. Roads in this area are expected to reopen by mid-afternoon on Sunday, April 26. Vehicle crossing is possible until 8:40 am and after 1:35 pm.
