11 Oct
Summary
- Star attackers Isak and Gakpo ruled out of Man City match.
- Both players sustained injuries while on international duty.
- Their absence significantly weakens Liverpool's attacking force.
Liverpool's preparation for their upcoming Premier League showdown with Manchester City has been significantly disrupted by a double injury setback. Head coach Andoni Iraola confirmed that key attackers Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo will be unavailable for the crucial Anfield clash.
Both Isak and Gakpo sustained their respective injuries while on international duty during the recent break. Gakpo was forced to withdraw from the Netherlands squad due to an ankle issue resulting from a heavy challenge. Meanwhile, Isak suffered a thigh injury while representing Sweden.
These absences represent a considerable loss of firepower for Liverpool. Together, Isak and Gakpo have been instrumental in the team's unbeaten league start. Isak, in particular, has been in fine form, netting four goals in five league appearances this season. Gakpo had also contributed significantly with two goals and four assists across all competitions.
