Liverpool Rethinks Alonso Amidst Slot's Struggles

Liverpool has reportedly made contact with Real Madrid to gather information regarding Xabi Alonso, a leading candidate for the managerial role at Anfield. This move suggests that Liverpool's leadership may be developing reservations about Alonso, potentially influencing their decision on the future of current manager Arne Slot.

Mounting pressure surrounds Arne Slot following what has been described as an underwhelming season on Merseyside. Recent fan dissatisfaction was evident following a draw against Chelsea, with some supporters expressing their desire for Alonso to replace Slot. However, Spanish publication AS reports that Liverpool's inquiries into Alonso's past at Real Madrid have uncovered issues from his six-month tenure there, including reports of a fractured changing room.

These revelations have led Liverpool's hierarchy to develop concerns about Alonso's suitability. Consequently, they might opt to retain Slot for another campaign. Despite the potential for a Champions League qualification spot, the team's performance has led to uncertainty. Slot himself acknowledged the need to win back the Anfield faithful, expressing confidence that strategic summer planning could lead to a significantly improved team next season.
