Liechtenstein and Cyprus will compete in a friendly match on Sunday at Rheinpark Stadion. Both teams missed World Cup qualification and are using this game to build momentum for the UEFA Nations League starting in September.
Liechtenstein is looking to rebound after a second-half collapse resulted in a 2-0 loss to Andorra on Thursday. This defeat followed mixed results in the 2026 FIFA Series, with a win against Tanzania but a heavy loss to Aruba. They have lost their last four friendlies.
Cyprus recently drew 1-1 with Slovenia, following a 3-2 victory over Moldova. These results came after a period of three consecutive defeats. Like Liechtenstein, Cyprus failed to qualify for the World Cup, finishing fourth in their group.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Liechtenstein and Cyprus. Cyprus is significantly higher in the FIFA World Rankings at 126th, compared to Liechtenstein's 206th. Liechtenstein has lost 14 of its last 15 games across all competitions, with Cyprus also struggling in recent friendlies, failing to win five of their last six.
Cyprus is predicted to win this encounter, capitalizing on Liechtenstein's recent poor form. The expected score is a 2-0 victory for Cyprus.
