Leeds Rhinos face a challenging start to the new Super League season following significant injury news. Forward James McDonnell has been ruled out for up to six weeks due to an ankle injury sustained during a recent warm-up match against the Bradford Bulls.
Adding to the club's concerns, promising centre Max Simpson, aged 21, will miss the entire season. Simpson suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during the same game, which also served as Cameron Smith's testimonial.
Captain Ash Handley also sustained an injury during the match, coming off with a groin problem. He is expected to be sidelined for approximately two weeks, further impacting the team's lineup as they prepare for their Super League campaign opener on February 13 against Leigh Leopards.
