Summary
- LeBron James believes the Oklahoma City Thunder remain championship contenders.
- Injuries to key players impacted the Thunder's playoff run last season.
- Despite roster changes, the Thunder retain significant depth for a deep playoff push.
Future Hall of Famer LeBron James, now a key player for the Philadelphia 76ers, has expressed his continued belief in the Oklahoma City Thunder's championship aspirations for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season. He cautioned against underestimating the Thunder, who were eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs in a seven-game Western Conference Finals series last season.
James pointed out that injuries to crucial players like Jaylen Williams and Ajay Mitchell may have significantly hampered their playoff performance. He suggested that a fully healthy Thunder roster still possesses the talent to be a top contender in the Western Conference. While the organization did trade away some rotation players to address salary cap concerns, James is confident that the team's existing depth is sufficient for a successful deep playoff run.
