13 Jan
Summary
- LeBron James' jersey now features a special patch for his 23rd season.
- The patch displays a chalk toss silhouette and stripes for his former teams.
- These patches will become collectible trading cards from Topps.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is making NBA history, not just with his play, but also with his jersey for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. A special patch, commemorating his unprecedented 23rd year in the league, has been added to his uniform. This unique honor began with the Lakers' game against the Sacramento Kings on Monday night.
The commemorative patch features a distinct design: a silhouette of James' signature pregame chalk toss, accompanied by three colored stripes symbolizing the franchises he has played for – the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers. These patches are not just for show; they are slated to become highly sought-after collectibles.
After each game, these patches are removed from James' jersey and sent to Topps, where they will be incorporated into special-edition trading cards. This initiative means James will wear a different patch on his jersey for every remaining regular-season game, adding a unique layer of memorabilia to his historic 23rd season, during which he is averaging 21.9 points, 6.9 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals.
