O'Neal's assessment highlighted the lack of impact from Joshua, acquired from the Vancouver Canucks, who has five points in 22 games, and Maccelli, traded from the Utah Hockey Club, with nine points in 21 games. The analyst deemed their performance so poor that they "don't do anything" and are "useless" additions, suggesting they shouldn't even be in the lineup.
Adding to the team's challenges, captain Auston Matthews recently sustained a lower-body injury after a hit on November 2nd. After missing five games, Matthews skated on Monday and is anticipated to return to the lineup for the upcoming game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
