Lauren Shehadi, a prominent sideline reporter for MLB Network and TNT Sports, has been selected for a sideline reporting role with Netflix, signaling the streaming giant's growing investment in live sports. This move comes ahead of the 2026 Major League Baseball season, where Netflix plans to broadcast key events including Opening Night, the Home Run Derby, and the Field of Dreams Game.
Shehadi's new position with Netflix is expected to be an additional role, allowing her to maintain her anchor and host duties on MLB Network's MLB Central. Her first assignment for Netflix will be covering the MLB Opening Night game between the Giants and the Yankees in San Francisco on March 25. She will also be involved in TNT Sports' March Madness coverage later this month.
Netflix's expansion into live sports is significant, with additional rights including WWE's Monday Night Raw and NFL Christmas games. The company also secured exclusive rights for the 2027 Women's World Cup in the United States. Elle Duncan, who previously left ESPN, is already serving as the overall host for Netflix's sports coverage, having successfully hosted a live climbing event in January.
