On Sunday, November 3rd, 2025, Los Angeles FC (LAFC) defeated Austin FC 4-1 to sweep the best-of-three series in the first round of the MLS Cup playoffs. LAFC, the third seed, had previously won Game 1 by a score of 2-1.
The match was dominated by LAFC, with Denis Bouanga leading the way. Bouanga scored two goals and added an assist to help LAFC cruise to victory. Son Heung-Min also had a strong performance, scoring a goal and providing an assist.
LAFC opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Son, on a counter-attack, froze the defender and blasted a shot into the back of the net. About four minutes later, Son set up Bouanga for an easy finish to make it 2-0.
Bouanga then added his second goal of the night in the 44th minute, cutting inside to evade a defender and flicking a shot into the net. Austin FC managed to pull one back in the sixth minute of stoppage time in the first half, but that was as close as they would come.
