The H.E. Comer, Jr. Sports Complex in Monroe County was the site of a special celebration on Friday, August 28, 2026. During halftime of the James Monroe High School football team's victory over Greenbrier East, the Lady Mavericks Girls Basketball team was honored.
The players and coaching staff from last year's championship team finally received their championship rings. Head Coach Shari Helvey expressed her pride in the team's growth and dedication throughout the year.
The rings, described as black and gold with the James Monroe letter logo, represent a significant achievement for the team. Notably, the Lady Mavericks accomplished their title run during the 2025-26 season with no seniors on the roster. Many of these athletes are continuing their dedication in other sports and are focused on a repeat performance.
