Olympic Golf Spots: Qualifying Begins Now!

The journey to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics for golfers begins this week, with qualification windows opening for both men's and women's events. These 60-player fields will be finalized based on world rankings by early June 2028. A two-year rolling window for results means current tournaments are the very first steps in this Olympic race.

Rankings prioritize recent and major performances, emphasizing the importance of consistent play leading up to 2028. Similar to past Olympics, countries can have a maximum of two men and two women if ranked outside the world's top 15. Beyond that, the top four from any nation may qualify if ranked within the top 15.

This year's LA28 Games will feature a new mixed-gender team event, showcasing a unique format for already qualified individual athletes. Sixteen nations will participate, each represented by one male and one female golfer.

Currently, strong American representation is evident, with several top-ranked women and men vying for limited spots. Notable past Olympic gold medalists like Nelly Korda, Xander Schauffele, and Scottie Scheffler are among those whose current standings highlight the intense competition ahead.
