LA Marathon: Run 18 miles, Earn Medal!
7 Mar
Summary
- Runners can finish early at mile 18 due to heat.
- Early finishers will still receive finisher and challenge medals.
- Shuttles available from mile 7 through mile 23.

Organizers of the Los Angeles Marathon have introduced a special option for this year's race, anticipating a high of 84 degrees. Runners will have the ability to finish the marathon after completing just 18 miles. This detour allows participants to head to the finish line early without needing to inform anyone.
Upon choosing the earlier finish, participants will still receive their finisher medal and any challenge medals they have earned. Their official race results will be updated later to reflect their achieved time and mileage. Organizers emphasize there is no shame in making a decision that prioritizes one's physical well-being.
For any runner needing to withdraw from the marathon at any point, organizers strongly advise reporting to the nearest medical or aid station. Shuttle vans will be available to pick up participants from mile 7 all the way through mile 23. These shuttles will be positioned at medical stations located at even mile markers and aid stations at odd mile markers.
