The LA Kings experienced a tough 3-2 defeat against the Seattle Kraken at Crypto.com Arena, marking their final game before the NHL's holiday break. The Kings found themselves trailing by three goals after a challenging second period, during which Seattle scored three times. Goaltender Pheonix Copley, making his first start of the season, turned away 25 shots but was ultimately unable to secure the win for Los Angeles.
Seattle opened the scoring on a power play early in the second period, followed by a deflected goal and a successful 2-on-1 rush that extended their lead to 3-0. The Kings managed to get on the board before the end of the second period with a goal from Kevin Fiala, and Andrei Kuzmenko added another in the third, narrowing the gap to a single goal.
Despite outshooting the Kraken 38-28 and a strong effort in the final minutes, the Kings were unable to find the equalizer. The Kraken's Joey Daccord made 36 saves to secure the victory.
