The LA Galaxy has announced the signing of five players from its affiliated MLS NEXT Pro team, Ventura County FC (VCFC). This strategic move brings forward Eric Preston, midfielder Brett Phan, defenders Mason Vanney and Jose Magaña, and goalkeeper Sebastian Conlon onto short-term agreements.
These signings are in preparation for the club's friendly match against Club América. For Jose Magaña, this marks his second call-up this season, while the other four players, all under 23, are receiving their first career call-ups to the senior team.
Eric Preston, 18, has impressed with two goals and two assists in 20 appearances for VCFC. Seventeen-year-old Brett Phan, a two-time MLS NEXT Cup champion, also makes his first-team call-up. Mason Vanney, 18, has contributed one goal and two assists in 23 appearances for VCFC since September 2025.
Nineteen-year-old Jose Magaña, a standout from the LA Galaxy Academy, has made 37 appearances for VCFC and was Tournament MVP for the U-17 MLS NEXT Cup championship in 2024. Goalkeeper Sebastian Conlon, 23, who was drafted by the Galaxy in 2026, has recorded three clean sheets for VCFC.
MLS regulations permit clubs to sign players under 25 from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliates for up to four Short-Term Agreements per season, totaling a maximum of 16 days. Players can appear in a limited number of league matches but can participate in any number of non-league games during these agreements.
