Para Athletes Hustle to LA 2026 Paralympics

With the LA Paralympics just two years away, the dedication of para-athletes takes center stage. Kathrin Marchand exemplifies this spirit, having competed in the Olympics and later the Paralympics in rowing after recovering from a stroke. She further cemented her unique status by participating in cross-country skiing at the Winter Para Games, becoming a true one-off.

In the United States, Matt Scott, a five-time Paralympian in wheelchair basketball, now champions adaptive sports through his "Fly Without Limits" foundation. This initiative provides crucial opportunities and adapted wheelchairs for individuals with physical disabilities aspiring to compete.

Spain is witnessing a surge in para sports, largely driven by grassroots efforts like the Tambien Foundation, established 26 years ago. This has translated into significant medal success, as seen with skier Audrey Pascual Seco, who began her journey with the foundation at age eleven and won two golds at the recent Winter Paralympics. The foundation has also launched an adaptive climbing program, aiming for new successes at upcoming Summer Games, with para climbing set to debut in LA.

Another remarkable story is that of US Navy officer Brad Snyder. A year after sustaining blindness from an IED in Afghanistan, he achieved Paralympic gold in swimming, showcasing incredible resilience.
